A small group is usually a collection of our members and regular attenders but may include their neighbors, relatives, and friends. A small group meets together on a regular basis outside of Sunday worship for fellowship, to encourage one another, pray together, study Scripture, and serve others. Small group meetings are usually no more than two hours in length.
The members of a small group are likely to have something in common, ie. life cycle stage, hobbies, interests, ministry, or they just enjoy one another’s company! Intergenerational small groups can be very refreshing because they allow individuals to share ideas from different perspectives and worldview. Small groups can certainly include families with young children. Group members arrange for childcare as needed.
Last but not least, food is an important component of small group life at Living Water. Whether it’s a snack, dessert, or an entire meal, small groups thrive when they gather in the kitchen or around a dining table to enjoy something delicious!
Living Water invites every member and regular attender to become involved in a small group that meets a couple of times each month to check-in on one another’s well-being and to grow spiritually through a themed Bible or book study that enriches their faith walk. Ultimately small group members are well equipped to share Jesus in the community and to start new small groups.
If you are interested in learning more about small groups, please contact Linda Murdock. They can help you to find the right place for you or your family to connect with others in the congregation.
Better yet, if you are interested in starting a small group and would be willing to host 8-10 people in your home for 6-8 weeks for a “test drive,” please let us know. We will help you find the right short-term study and provide some pointers for facilitating group discussion and introducing worship, prayer, and service projects.
Please think of small groups as your circle of support at Living Water. We don’t want anyone to stand alone without connection. We wish to have you surrounded with the love of Jesus through the love of others who are willing to care for you unconditionally (just like Jesus)!
