Pastor Scott Sommerfeld
Pastor Scott Sommerfeld has served LCMS congregations for 33 years in Louisville, KY, Kokomo, IN, and Jenison, MI and now in the special ministry known as Intentional Interim Ministry (IIM) for the past 3 and ½ years. He comes to Living Water after serving 19 months as Sr. Pastor at Community, Flat Rock following 12 months each at Trinity, Jackson and Trinity, Utica.
He and his wife Cindy will celebrate their 39th Wedding Anniversary June 5th. Cindy works full time as a Speech Therapist for Washtenaw Intermediate School District serving children from birth to 3 years old in the Early On program. They are blessed to have 3 adult children living in 3 states: Chris a consultant with Deloitte in New York City; Matt a civil engineer with Marathon Petroleum in Bowling Green, Ohio and Anna a mechanical engineer now in her second semester of EMU’s Orthotics and Prosthetics Program. Pastor Scott and Cindy moved to Ypsilanti, MI 3 and ½ years ago to be closer to their two grandchildren in Bowling Green – Ella, 6 years old and Luke, 4.
Pastor Scott has a passion for leadership development, helping home and congregation work together to enrich the faith of every generation, as well as organizational/relational health founded on Holy Manners and Servant Leadership. Feel free to check out his website: holymanners.org. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis in 1987 and completed his Doctor of Ministry degree there in 2007. While his business card reads Rev. Dr. Scott G. Sommerfeld he prefers to be called Pastor Scott.
